How to get rid of blackheads? My methods of face cleansing

Blackheads tend to cover our face like poppy seeds cakes- the difference is that a poppyseed cake is mouth-watering. This is the consequence of excessive sebum production by the sebaceous glands and abnormal exfoliation of the epidermis. The direct cause of the formation of blackheads is the clogging of the hair follicles by tallow and keratinized cells. Depending on the type, they look like black dots in the skin or a fine white rash. Blackheads are not only unsightly, but also undergo bacterial superinfections easily and, as a consequence, cause purulent pustules. Therefore, it is worth getting rid of them as quickly as possible. Here are my ways for removing blackheads once quickly and effectively.

My ways of removing blackheads: face cleansing at a salon

By the term “my ways of removing blackheads”, I mean non-proprietary recipes, but the methods that I use myself. These include cosmetic and dermatological treatments as well as home-made treatments. Let’s start with the first ones.

I consider manual cleansing, cavitation peel, almond peel exfoliation and iontophoresis to be the best cosmetic treatments for comedones.

Manual face cleansing

The treatment begins with the application of the scarifying agent and bringing the steam-generating device closer to the face. After 5-10 minutes, the beautician washes the preparation and proceeds to pop out the blackheads. When they’re done, the skin is disinfected and beautician applies and astringent mask and cream. You should undergo the treatment occasionally, because the skin, which is often warmed up and subjected to squeezing, stretches permanently, that’s why after a few years it might get covered with enlarged pores. Manual cleansing is an effective way to remove fine white rash – milia. The beautician punctures them with a needle and squeezes out.

Cavitation peel

The treatment consists of purifying the pores with ultrasound. The beautician moves the tip of the device emitting high-frequency sound waves across the face. As a result, the complexion is cleansed, smoothed and brightened.

Exfoliation with mandelic acid

The treatment consists in applying pH leveling agent and acid preparation to the face. After 20-30 minutes, the latter is washed away, and the beautician moisturizes the skin with a cream containing UV filters.

Iontophoresis

The treatment involves the introduction of anti-bacterial, anti-seborrheic and slightly exfoliating agents through the galvanic current into the skin.

Remember that when there are a lot of blackheads or any other skin lesions, consult a dermatologist before going to a beautician. Only the doctor can assess whether the current state of your skin does not require pharmacological treatment.

My ways of removing blackheads: face cleansing by a dermatologist

If the number of blackheads is enormous, nothing prevents you from undergoing intense exfoliating treatments of the epidermis and the upper layers of the dermis. These include: acid exfoliation, for example, a high concentration of glycolic acid, pyruvic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid or a solution of several acids and microdermabrasion. During microdermabrasion, the doctor uses a special tool tipped with a diamond, and the device generates a high negative pressure. The result is exfoliation of the epidermis and stimulation of collagen production. After the treatment, fruit acids are often applied. Microdermabrasion is also done by beauticians, but its course is less gentle.

My ways of removing blackheads: laser

All the treatments I have described require regular repetition because the skin is constantly working and gets clogged all over again. However, there is a method that eliminates blackheads permanently. The treatment is carried out using a laser. The light of the device evaporates the blackheads and then removes the sebaceous glands filled with them, so the impurities, for obvious reasons, will not accumulate in them again. For about 3 days, in areas of the former blackheads, you can see small scabs, and slight irritation can last a little over 5 days. The treatment is almost painless and fully safe, provided that it’s performed by an experienced physician.

My at-home methods for removing blackheads

Homemade methods for dealing with blackheads, which I use myself, are based on the use of peels, exfoliating creams and masks and home-made microdermabrasion.

Cleansing cosmetics for impure skin have a light gel or foam consistency, are grease-free and contain soothing substances, such as panthenol and allantoin, which reduce inflammation. They also contain moisturizing ingredients, gently exfoliating, with antibacterial qualities and regulating the work of sebaceous glands.

Scrub can be grainy or – in the case of a tendency to irritation and inflammation – enzymatic. In the case of mixed skin, you should use both peels at the same time: grain scrub to the greasy area of the face and enzymatic to the dry parts. Exfoliate the skin at least twice a week.

Exfoliating creams improve the process of keratinization of the epidermis and prevent the pores from clogging. Although you will buy them without a prescription, make sure to seek the advice of a dermatologist or cosmetologist first. Exfoliating creams contain fruit acids in various concentrations and other strong substances that are not safe for all skin types.

As for face masks, I like those based on clays the most. They provide astringent, brightening and smoothing effects.

Moreover, to undergo microdermabrasion, you do not have to go to a dermatologist. At-home microdermabrasion kit consists of a preparation with fruit acids, mechanical peel and a soothing product. The packaging contains detailed instructions for use.
